3D Adaptive Gripper

Ross Innovation Ltd

Passive-adaptive gripper auto-conforms to objects of varied shape/size; reliable, tool-free grasping in complex, unstructured environments.

A patent-pending re-conception of gripper design. Passive-adaptive grippers that automatically conform their gripping surfaces to the shape of an object. The 3D Adaptive grippers have been developed in a range of sizes and configurations to suit end-user requirements.

Key information

• Primarily for operation in unstructured, complex environments

• Grasping and manipulation of a wide range of objects of differing size, shape, mass

• No requirement for tool-change – one gripper does everything

• Reliable manipulation, no requirement for accurate control

• Fits industry-standard gripper actuators

• No supplementary control or sensing requirements

• Available in a range of sizes and formats

3D Adaptive product variants

Robotique variant

• Small form-factor for operation in confined spaces

• Available in a range of gripper formats including bear-paw

• Successfully deployed in nuclear decommissioning

• Can be fitted with haptics

Zimmer (and Schunk) variant

• Larger-scale than the Robotique

• Can handle objects up to circa 10Kg

• Available in a range of formats

• Used in nuclear decommissioning for gripping and manipulation tasks associated with laser cutting (size-reduction)

• Can be fitted with haptics

Ross Innovation actuated variant

• Double-actuation for off-centre gripping

• Small form-factor for maximal stroke and grip-force

• Torque-sensing for closed-loop control

• Available in a range of formats including ultra-high torque

• Can be fitted with haptics

• ROS2 / EtherCat zero-latency control
