Nuclear new build

AtkinsRealis

We’ve delivered new-build nuclear reactors around the world.

Our services range from the design of nuclear technology to site engineering support. We provide consultancy and design services across all stages of the project lifecycle, from concept design through to site-based commissioning. Our project solutions start at the concept stage, and continue through design and technology development, including new-build programs, and from asset management through to end-of-life and waste management.

We use advanced digital technologies, including computer-aided engineering at the design and analysis stage to enhance safety, cost and schedule aspects of what we deliver, which has the added value of helping our clients manage day-to-day operations long after the build is complete.

Our CANDU technology operates on four continents.

Our experts have been developing and licensing nuclear technology for more than six decades, supported by a deep technical knowledge of global policy and regulatory frameworks. We use our strengths as a nuclear reactor developer to collaborate with small modular reactor and advanced reactor vendors, helping them to develop their reactor designs to a level where they are market ready.

We’re also part of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor fusion project (ITER), collaborating with companies from 35 countries to build the world's largest experimental nuclear fusion reactor in southern France. The project’s aim is to deliver nuclear fusion on a commercial scale, offering safe, limitless, and environmentally responsible energy.

We offer a depth and breadth of expertise to the industry, and we’re a world-leader in heavy water reactors. We act to ensure reactors fulfil their expected lifespans, through excellence in engineering, design, consulting, on-site services, project management and asset management.

We’re helping our clients, domestically and around the world, so households, businesses and communities can benefit from safe, reliable and clean nuclear power for generations to come.
